The Higher Education Training Institute of the Korean Council for University Education (Chairman Yang O-Bong President of Jeonbuk National University, hereinafter referred to as KCUE) announced a major expansion of its teaching skills training programs leveraging advanced artificial intelligence (AI) and digital technologies. This initiative is designed to align with the demands of the digital transformation era and to promote qualitative innovation in higher education.

This training program is centered on innovative teaching methodologies designed to equip educators with practical skills they can apply directly in the classroom. Key components include AI-based instructional design, effective use of digital tools, application of statistical and analytical tools, and student-centered teaching strategies.

In particular, the training program is structured around teaching methodologies that strengthen Artificial Intelligence and Digital Literacy (AID), with the aim of leading digital innovation in higher education, enhancing educators’ ability to apply these methods in real-world settings, and responding swiftly to the evolving educational environment. Approximately 50 courses will be offered, including AI Teaching Shift: Educational Innovation with Generative AI and AI Boot Camp: Research Methods & Pedagogy. These programs will be delivered in both in-person and online formats and will run from June through August.

In addition, the Higher Education Training Institute of the KCUE will offer a foundational training program for admissions officers to enhance fairness and professionalism in the university admissions process. Comprising 17 distinct courses, the program is designed to systematically strengthen the evaluative competencies of admissions officers. It features practice- and discussion-based sessions such as Document and Interview Evaluation, Hands-on Training, Case Analysis of Admissions Assessments, and Seminars on University Admissions Systems and Fairness Issues. The program will be conducted in both in-person and online formats from June through October.

Through this training initiative, universities are expected to: promote an innovative transformation in education by expanding the use of AI-based teaching methodologies; enhance learning immersion and the overall quality of education by designing learner-centered instruction; and improve the fairness and credibility of the university admissions process by strengthening the professionalism of admissions officers.

Chairman Yang O-Bong (President of Jeonbuk National University) stated, “in order to ensure equal opportunities for all students, and enhance public trust in education across society through these efforts toward educational innovation, we will strive to proactively respond to a rapidly changing environment, drive the continuous qualitative advancement of higher education that leads future society, and establish a transparent and fair university admissions system
