The Higher Education Support Center for Students with Disabilities of the Korean Council for University Education (hereinafter referred to as KCUE, chaired by Sang-Gue Park, President of Chung-Ang University) held the 2024 Excellence Content Competition Awards and Performance Sharing Event for University Disability Support Centers Operational Support Projectson December 10 (Tuesday) at Fraser Place Central (Jung-gu, Seoul) with 99 universities selected for the project.

 

The Excellence Content Competition awarded works across various formats, including videos and essays. The Grand Prize was awarded to Minju Park of Ewha Womans University for her video on the theme “DREAM: Walking Together on a Better Path” and Dongsoon Lee of the Korea National University of Arts for her essay titled “Hoping to Be Remembered as a Reliable Ally.”

 

During the Performance Sharing Event, universities shared and communicated about exemplary practices based on the programs under the disability support center operation support project. This included Seoul National University’s systematic approach to ensuring the right to education for students with disabilities, focusing on support for educational activities; Daegu Cyber University’s utilization of assistive devices in online learning environments and support for academic achievement; National Mokpo University’s operation of environmental education and recycling programs for students with disabilities, contributing to the local community; Hanyang University’s program for enhancing the employment readiness of students with disabilities through autonomous university initiatives; and Daegu University’s integrated support encompassing convenience for students with disabilities and efforts to improve awareness.


Going forward, the Ministry of Education and the Higher Education Support Center for Students with Disabilities plan to continue fostering awareness improvement regarding support for university (graduate school) students with disabilities and enhancing accountability for providing higher education opportunities for individuals with disabilities through smooth communication with universities and the sharing and dissemination of exemplary cases.
