□ The Ministry of Education and the Higher Education Support Center for Students with Disabilities at the Korean Council for University Education (KCUE) held the “On-site Monitoring of Public Participation Budget Execution” for the operation of the Higher Education Support Center for Students with Disabilities on Tuesday, November 19, 4 PM, at the 7th-floor conference room of Hankyong National University (Pyeongtaek Campus). The event was attended by the Public Participation Budget Monitoring Team from the Ministry of Strategy and Finance, the Lifelong and Vocational Education Planning Division of the Ministry of Education, officials from KCUE’s Higher Education Support Center for Students with Disabilities, representatives from Hankyong National University, university disability support center staff, and higher education experts.
□ The “On-site Monitoring of Public Participation Budget Execution” aims to verify whether the budget allocated with public participation is being efficiently executed. The event introduced the progress and details of the 2024 project for operating the Higher Education Support Center for Students with Disabilities and served as a platform to share information about support project cases from various universities.
□ The event began with a welcome address by President Lee Won-Hee of Hankyong National University, followed by presentations on the main aspects of the Higher Education Support Center for Students with Disabilities operation support project, examples of support projects from Hankyong National University’s Disability Support Center, Daegu University, customized career and employment support cases from Korea Nazarene University and Chungbuk National University, and plans for educational support to enhance cultural and artistic participation for students with disabilities. A Q&A session was also held. Furthermore, information was shared on projects initiated based on public suggestions, such as the designation of the Higher Education Support Center for Students with Disabilities for integrated support of students with disabilities, the creation and distribution of manuals for university disability support, and capacity-building training and consulting for disability support center staff.
□ In the future, the Higher Education Support Center for Students with Disabilities plans to continue facilitating smooth operations of related projects by promoting communication, sharing best practices, and disseminating information.
