The Policy Research Team of the Research Institute of Higher Education at the Korean Council for University Education (hereinafter referred to as KCUE) hosted the 1st Joint Forum as part of the ongoing study, "Development Plan for Higher Education and Mid-to-Long-Term Financial Planning," which aims to establish stable mid-to-long-term financial resources for higher education.

This forum, held after the 1st Board Forum on October 18, 2024, was co-organized by KCUE’s Research Institute of Higher Education, Kangwon National University’s Institute of Educational Research, Sungkyunkwan University’s Institute for Education and Future Studies, and the Korean Society for the Economics and Finance of Education.
The first keynote presentation, delivered by Professor Bae Sang-Hoon (Sungkyunkwan University), focused on "Future Environmental Outlook for Higher Education, the Current State of Korean Universities, and Future Tasks." The designated discussants were Professor Park Jin (KDI School of Public Policy and Management) and Yoon So-Young, Director of Regional Talent Policy (Ministry of Education).
Next, Professor Nam Soo-Kyung (Kangwon National University) presented on "Legal and Institutional Improvement Measures for Securing Higher Education Finance: Strategies Following the Special Account for Higher and Lifelong Education Support." The designated discussants were Legislative Researcher Cho In-Sik (National Assembly Research Service) and Associate Research Fellow Ko Chang-Soo (Korea Institute of Public Finance).
Finally, the comprehensive discussion featured President Kwak Ho-Sang (Kumoh National Institute of Technology) and President Choi Do-Sung (Handong Global University) participating in-person, along with 18 university presidents joining via ZOOM. The discussions focused on the "Development Plan for Higher Education and Mid-to-Long-Term Financial Planning."
The findings from this study will serve as a foundation for deriving higher education agendas and developing strategies for securing stable financial resources in the future.
