    Inauguration of 23rd Chairman of KCUE, Hosung Chang in 2017

□ Hosung Chang, President of Dankook University, was inaugurated as the 23rd Chairman of the Korean Council for University Education (KCUE). The inauguration ceremony was held at KCUE main conference room in Seoul on April 7th, 2017.    


□ Chairman Chang said, “a huge change is expected in university education policy as the new administration takes office.” He added, “I acknowledge the heavy responsibility of the chairman of KCUE to advance Korea’s higher education at such critical time." He averred that "our universities face huge problems such as financial issues stemming from prolonged freeze of university tuition, restructuring to tackle the decreasing student population and revision of school system in response to 4th industrial revolution.” He emphasized that “as a council among university presidents, KCUE should honor the role to present solutions to the new government regarding major pending issues including university autonomy and tuition increase.”


□ Among the attendants were the member university presidents and leaders of relevant organizations including Seongyeop Yoo, Chair of Education, Culture, Sports and Tourism Committee (ECSTC) of the Parliament, Wan Kyoo Cho, former Minister of Education, Jinseok Lee, Academic Research Affairs and Financial Aid Bureau of Ministry of Education, Ikhyun Shin, University Policy Bureau, Yangok Ahn, Chairman of the Board of Korea Student Aid Foundation, Seoksoo Han, President of Korean Education and Research Information Service, Hyecheon Kim, Chairman of Korea Foundation for the Promotion of Private School, Jinhong Kim, President of Education Facility Disaster Association, Kiwoo Lee, Chairman of the Korean Council for University College Education, Joondong Kim, President of National Research Foundation of Korea, and Kwangho Kim, Secretary-General of Korea National Commission for UNESCO. The farewell ceremony was also held for the former Chairman, Hyang-jin Huh.
